Government communication should stay accessible for all of us
The Plain Language Act 2022 plays a vital role in ensuring that the New Zealand government’s communications remain accessible the public, particularly those who face barriers in understanding complex English.
This includes people with intellectual or learning disabilities, or those for whom English is a second language. Accessible language enables all New Zealanders to understand their rights, responsibilities, and the services available to them in terms that they understand.
The government is trying to repeal this legislation.
The removal of this legislation risks creating communication barriers that could disproportionately affect already marginalised communities.
This is why we need YOUR signature!
we want to keep this vital legislation in Aotearoa,
but we need your help.
let your voice be heard, keep plain language in NZ!
